Where have all the scary movies gone?

okay so where have all the scary movies gone?  Did they die?  Did they get murdered by a disfigured killer in a mask with a gigantic butcher knife on the day after halloween?  WTF?!

So as you gather, you propbably have a general idea of what this blog is going to be about today.

As a child I was the biggest wimp when it came down horror flicks or thrillers.  I would duck under a pillow when i knew a scary point was approaching.  Or I would "pretend" to go get more popcorn or soda just so I could get out of the movie theatre or living room.  Let's just say it, I was a wuss.  Then I grew up and found I absolutely loved the thrill of it all!  So i went to scary movies and rented them and watched them until I was completely scared!  However, the anticpation of that scary moment is what I seeked out most.  So, why is it that I find myself without it NOWADAYS!?

Where have all the scary movies gone?  One sad example of a scary movie was A Huanting in Connecticut.  What a sorry excuse for a movie that was.   I was expecting glam and glitz, but was left with dull and borning.   I figured since it was a movie based on true event I was stricking gold, but no my friends... NO GOLD.  I supremely disappointed at the effects and scare factor in this movie.  I felt for the plot cause you know... it's a true story, but the rest of it was just torture to watch.   Yet another scary movie without the "scare".

Other disappointments were My Bloody Valentine 3-D (pitiful), Friday the 13th (released 2009) and Obsessed (oh lord)... I didn't even want to see anymore scary movies this year for the fear of losing my money!  It seems that Horror filmmakers are either struggling for plots to go along with sound effects or just plain trying to gross me out with movies like Saw 25 or whatever...  I'll have you know I don't get scared in movies like Saw4 and Hostel... I get physically sick to my stomach.  Thanks hollywood for coming up with the "Torture Porn" genre of horror.  Can't get ehough.  UGH!

Next year I am hoping that someone somewhere will own up to the horrow drama and scare the living daylights out of me.  I have to admit, the last scary movie I had to walk out of was "The Exorsist: The Beginning"!  It freaked the hell outa me.  So, until then I wait... I wait for my scary moment anticipation to come back...  We need more movies like "The Ring" or " The Grudge".   Maybe Hollywood should just keep remaking Asian Horror flicks.  They got the scare factors down pat.

So where have all the scary movies gone?  If anyone knows of a great scary movie to watch. please let me know where I can find it!!

ciao
