As we all know,
Richard Pryor is a legend among comedians. He was the first comedian to get up on stage and curse and all the S%#@ he wanted on Network Television. Comedians like
Eddie Murphy, Chris Rock, Steve Harvey, etc stemmed from Pryor's amazing comedic performances. Pryor became the inspiration for many African American Comedians, but who should play him in a movie about his wonderous, magical, funny as hell and challenged life?
Dreamgirls director Bill Condon is said to write and helm a biopic on Pryor called,
Is It Something I Said?
Well, I certainly can't see Eddie Murphy in Pryor's shoes, but there was talk of him to play the part (actually producers said he was just too old and didn't look enough like his old friend to play the role). Well, apparently Condon is preparing for a Wayans brother to step up and take the part. Marlon Wayans recently auditioned for the role as Pryor and "impressed Condon and other producers with a 13 minute-long screen test", according to HitFix. There is also talk that Wayans is already in "advanced discussions" to play the part in biopic. Even though he can sometimes get on my nerves, this may just work. He has many bad films, but I've seen him act in Reqeium for a Dream. Also, he's got the best facial expressions... a specialty of Pryor's.
If there is someone better... please let him speak now or forever hold his peace.
The film used to be in the hands of Paramount Pictures, but a conflict with the studio (which caused Murphy to drop out of the picture. Now, the film is in the hands of Adam Sandler's Happy Madison production company. Pryor and his wife, Jennifer Lee Pryor wrote the film and Sony is set to distribute.
The Happy Madison film is set to be an acute glimpse at the funnyman's life, however, it won't all be fun and games. According to MTV Movie Blog, the film will have it's serious side filled with themes such as race, hard drug addiction, suicide and illness.
I hope this works out! I can't wait
